“ My favorite is the grilled cod with rice, beans, lettuce, avocado, delicious fresh green and red salsa and of course the chips and tortilla. I ask for it with less salt. I love the orange booths, gives 60s vibe, I hope they keep them. Servers are prompt and friendly. Cheers! ”
“ Came last week for a birthday dinner and we had over 30 people. The server was amazing, patient, and smiled the whole time. I would have been stressed. The food was delicious and steaming hot... pretty hard to do when you're bringing out over 30 different plates. Loved our time there and the food was spot on! Gracias, Dos Compadres. We will be back soon. ”
“ I prefer this vs chipotle. Got the veggie burrito and it was perfect (see photo). Service was friendly. Sat outside with my dog. ”
“ Love stopping in for a drink and salsa. I've had the food and it's pretty good too. One bartender is a little light with the alcohol so when we see him I'm not ordering a cocktail I'm getting a michelada with negra modelo. Staff are alright bathrooms clean, tvs to watch the game and it's close by so we like going there. ”
“ This is my second time coming here and the first after recently moving. I really enjoyed the amazing service. Plenty of parking in the back and a great ambiance with music and sports on tv in the background. We ordered the shrimp as an appetizer and I really enjoyed it. I also loved the molcajete and the chips and salsa. I'll definitely be coming back again. ”
“ I have never been to Dos Compadres before. We were in the area (McHenry Avenue in Modesto) with a friend, and I hardly ever have Mexican food! I love Mexican food. However, when we dine out, we usually end up somewhere else. It was clean and visually appealing inside. Lots of colorful displays of papel picado, "punched" or "perforated" paper. The flowers are pretty, and the booth we sat in was roomy and comfortable. The waitress was sweet and on top of it! She was friendly and helped us navigate the menu, since it was our first time at this restaurant. I was appreciative for her suggestions. She also brought everything in a timely manner, even when they started to get a little busy. My food was delicious. I asked for my camarones/shrimp with creamy mushroom sauce to not have any cilantro or wine. They were accommodating. It came with rice and beans, a little salad (lettuce and tomato) and choice of flour or corn tortillas. I was a bit sad that the refried beans were not plentiful. There was much more rice than beans (I posted a photo). The bowl hides the fact that there were hardly any beans to speak of. My plate was about $20.00. My friend ordered the Taco Tuesday special. Just $2.00 each. They come standard with choice of meat: beef, chicken, carnitas, or pastor, onions, cilantro, salsa, and lemon wedges. I ordered some tacos to go for my son, he only wanted the meat and easy cilantro. He said he wished it had a little cheese on it, but they tasted good. Overall, a good experience. I would definitely eat here again. I would just hope the lack of beans was a fluke. ”
“ There are so many choices for Mexican food in Modesto. We use to come here a lot but it had been a while so we came on a Friday afternoon. I had a combo with chile relleno and cheese enchilada with red sauce. Wife had a veggie burrito with red and green sauce. That red sauce was so good!!! Great service and we really enjoyed our entire meal. The second basket of chips.......yes we had two baskets... don't judge! That second basket was freshly made and still warm and just tasty crunchy fresh chips and the house sauce was better than I remember. We will start coming back here and have that red sauce again.... ”
“ Came in after a fun day with family, we all decide to eat here. They were able to accommodate 7 of us with a 15 minute notice. Our waitress was attentive and pleasant. In order the Dos Compadres Fajitas. Chick, steak and shrimp. Came with bell peepers and squash. Plenty of steak and chicken, only 3 shrimp. I had flour tortillas, only 2 some with the meal, 3 would have been better. Also rice and beans, $23.50. Everyone liked their food. Came out fast and hot. Will be back. ”
